Protecting and enhancing the wild life

Birchwood sits within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, as well as along the route of the Tarka Trail, which celebrates the locally-penned novel, Tarka the Otter. Habitat First Group’s dedicated ecologist is in charge of re-wilding the estates and enhancing hundreds of wildlife species in perpetuity.

Conservation enhancements such as roosts for horseshoe-bats, nest boxes for swifts and bricks for bees will be incorporated into each house built at Birchwood, enabling these to thrive and residents to feel closer to nature. Keen eyes may also spot the resident pair of peregrine falcons.
